Chapter 1007 Transfer
Chapter 1007 Transfer
Zhang Yunhe cupped his hands and said, "Thank you for your concern, Boss Huang. I'm here to take care of some things and will be leaving soon. I've come to see you today to ask if there's a business deal I'd like to do, one that's guaranteed to make money!"
"Oh? It's guaranteed to make money? So Brother Yunhe is really willing to guarantee it. I wonder what kind of business it is?" Boss Huang became interested.
Who wouldn't want to do a business that guarantees a profit? Of course, Mr. Huang didn't want to turn down money either. Besides, although he was now living in seclusion, his daily expenses were still considerable.
He usually enjoys smoking opium, which isn't a huge expense for him. He also likes to play mahjong and take baths, all of which cost money. Moreover, he employs dozens of thugs at home. Over the past few years, he's been living off his savings, so he has to find a way to earn money.
Zhang Yunhe said, "I have two teahouses for sale. I'm sure Mr. Huang will be interested. Although these two teahouses aren't making a fortune every day, they are still the most successful teahouses in Shanghai!"
Mr. Huang was taken aback: "Teahouses? How can two teahouses make any money?"
“Hongyun Teahouse!” Zhang Yunhe said after taking a sip of tea.
Mr. Huang's expression froze: "What did you say? Hongyun Teahouse is your business? So you're the owner behind these two teahouses? I never would have guessed!"
Zhang Yunhe laughed and said, "Boss Huang's informants are all over Shanghai, so he should know how well these two teahouses are doing. I won't go into details here. If it weren't for the Japanese keeping a close eye on me, I really wouldn't have been willing to transfer these two teahouses. After all, there is no other teahouse in Shanghai that can compare to the business of my two teahouses!"
Mr. Huang, being a seasoned veteran, sensed something was amiss. He said, "I don't understand. It's true the Japanese want to arrest you, but as long as you don't show your face, they can't do anything to you. As for your business, it's in the French Concession. Do you think the Japanese can just barge into the French Concession and smash up your shop?"
"If they do that, they'll have even less chance of catching you. Besides, I heard that your two teahouses are protected by the police. Even if the Japanese want to cause trouble, they'll have to think twice."
Zhang Yunhe said, "The main reason is that those girls don't want to continue anymore; they all want to get married. Besides, I don't want to spend my energy on such a small amount of money. I don't trust anyone else with the business either, so it's better to transfer it to a reliable person so that it doesn't fail!"
Upon hearing this, Boss Huang frowned and said, "You're not going to have any of your girls working anymore? How can that be? Even if I take over your two teahouses, there won't be anyone to serve customers. How will you continue doing business?"
Zhang Yunhe laughed and said, "Mr. Huang, you don't need to worry about that. They won't leave immediately. If you take over the teahouse, I will have them teach your people how to run it before they leave!"
Mr. Huang nodded: "That's more like it. If you put it that way, I'm a little interested. Tell me, how much are you willing to pay to transfer these two teahouses?"
Zhang Yunhe held out a hand: "One price, fifty thousand silver dollars! With the current business situation of these two teahouses, you can recoup your costs in less than a year, and after that, it will all be pure profit!"
After thinking for a moment, Mr. Huang said, "I would like to see the account books of those two teahouses. Is that alright?"
Zhang Yunhe got up and walked to the door. He beckoned to an attendant outside, who came over with a briefcase and handed Zhang Yunhe several account books.
Zhang Yunhe went back, put the account book on the table, and pushed it over.
Of course, Boss Huang didn't know how to read ledgers, but he certainly had no shortage of accountants. An old accountant with thick glasses was called in with an abacus.
After a long and grueling abacus calculation lasting more than ten minutes, Mr. Huang saw that the numbers on the abacus matched the numbers in the ledger.
Boss Huang turned to Zhang Yunhe and said, "Brother Yunhe, the transfer fee of 5 silver dollars for the two teahouses is not expensive. I'll do this business with you. Besides you having your people take my people with you, I have another condition: you have to hand over your supply channels to me!"
Zhang Yunhe agreed, "No problem, once this deal is done, I will definitely offer it to you with both hands!"
"Alright then, Brother Yunhe, please prepare the contract!" Boss Huang said.
“The contract is already prepared. All we need to do is fill in the transfer amount and add the two conditions we just agreed on!” Zhang Yunhe said, taking out the contract document from his briefcase, filling in the transfer amount with a pen, and adding two more clauses.
After finishing writing, I handed it to Boss Huang.
Boss Huang called his advisor over to check the contract and found no problems.
While the clerk was reviewing the contract, Boss Huang asked again, "By the way, Brother Yunhe, who are the landlords of those two teahouses?"
Zhang Yunhe said, "I am the landlord of both teahouses, so Mr. Huang doesn't need to worry that I will suddenly take back the shops while you are running them!"
After pondering for a few seconds, Boss Huang said, "Since Brother Yunhe is leaving anyway, why don't you just sell me the deeds to those two shops as well?"
After considering it for a moment, Zhang Yunhe said, "I don't plan to sell the shop's property deed. After all, this war will eventually end. I feel that the Japanese won't last long and will be driven back sooner or later. I will come back then, and when I get old, I can have a few properties to support myself in my old age!"
When Boss Huang saw that Zhang Yunhe refused to sell the shop and only wanted to rent it out, he didn't want to force him or use coercion. After all, this was a man who even the Japanese had trouble with, so he must have some extraordinary methods.
"Master, the contract is fine!" the clerk said, placing the contract on the table.
"Bring me pen and ink!"
The servants brought over the pen and ink. Boss Huang dipped the pen in the ink and wrote his name on the contract, then stamped it with his seal.
After he signed and stamped the document, Zhang Yunhe took the pen, signed, and stamped the document as well.
"My family can't come up with that much cash all at once. How about I send someone to deliver it to the teahouse tomorrow morning?" Mr. Huang asked.
Zhang Yunhe smiled and nodded: "Of course I trust Boss Huang. I'll be waiting for you at the teahouse tomorrow morning!"
After leaving Huang's mansion, Zhang Yunhe did not return to the teahouse or contact Ma Dazhi, but instead went to Shiliupu.
The Shiliupu Wharf, located at the junction of the French Concession and the Chinese-controlled area, was the largest shipping wharf in Shanghai.
In the office of the French shipping company at the dock, a Frenchman in a captain's uniform was wiping his shoes with a rag while smoking a pipe.
There was a knock on the door, and a voice came from outside: "Captain Fabio?"
Fabio stopped shining his shoes, looked up at the door, and saw a young man in a suit and overcoat standing there. He asked, "It's me. What can I do for you?"
