Chapter 907: Xiao Chong Extra 15_3
Xiao Chong chuckled softly and said, "Shall we have a midnight snack first? Come to my house, I’ll cook for us."
Lin Wanwan was still hesitating when Xiao Chong, without giving her a chance to refuse, reached out boldly to pull her by the wrist and said, "Let’s go."
Lin Wanwan quickly put down the bag she was holding, closed the door, and followed Xiao Chong out.
Today, Lin’s grandpa wasn’t at home, so there was no one to watch over them.
The two of them passed through the wooden gate in the fence and walked along the newly paved cobblestone path, taking just a few steps to get to Xiao Chong’s home.
Eating a midnight snack every day hadn’t caused either of them to gain weight. Studying was exhausting, and they were not home until 9:30 PM every day.
"Wanwan, it’s Christmas Eve. How about roast turkey and chocolate?" Xiao Chong said as he pulled Lin Wanwan into the kitchen and took ingredients out of the fridge.
"Okay, up to you."
Lin Wanwan had no specific demands for a midnight snack. If it weren’t for Xiao Chong’s treats this semester, she wouldn’t eat any.
Xiao Chong put the prepared turkey legs and wings into the oven, then took out fresh milk and dark chocolate pieces and cocoa powder, heating and stirring them to make a hot chocolate drink.
Lin Wanwan watched Xiao Chong’s focused profile, finding him more handsome the longer she looked.
The well-defined nose, full back head, and sharp chin gave a clean, refined contour that was the perfect profile with ideal proportions.
Just as she marveled at how the poems describing handsome men hadn’t exaggerated at all, Xiao Chong suddenly turned to look at her, his gaze intense, with a slightly intriguing smile on his lips.
Lin Wanwan, flustered, stepped back and tactically brushed a lock of hair behind her ear, shifting her gaze to the hot chocolate, "Is it ready?"
Xiao Chong nodded lightly, "Yes, it is."
He poured the hot chocolate into two teacups, picked up the tray underneath, and said, "Come on, let’s sit on the sofa and wait for the turkey to be ready."
"Okay." Lin Wanwan followed him to the sofa in the living room and sat down.
The two of them held a cup of hot chocolate each, merely using them to warm their hands without drinking.
"Did you turn the floor heating on?" Lin Wanwan asked him, "It feels really warm in the living room."
Xiao Chong replied, "Yes, it’s the first snow, so the floor heating should be on."
"It’s snowing?" Lin Wanwan turned her head to look out of the floor-to-ceiling window.
Sure enough, under the night lights, white snowflakes were swirling down gently.
"Wow! It’s really snowing!" Lin Wanwan exclaimed excitedly, leaning on the sofa, gazing at the falling snow outside.
Xiao Chong looked at her satisfied expression and smiled slightly, "Wanwan, do you like snow?"
Lin Wanwan nodded, "Who can say no to snow? I just don’t know how long it will last."
Xiao Chong stood tall, looking out the window, "Not for long; it won’t accumulate."
In the flatlands of Yongcheng, heavy snow is rare, to see more snow they’d have to head to the mountains.
"Yeah, definitely." Having lived in Yongcheng for so long, Lin Wanwan also knew the snow wouldn’t be much, her tone carrying a hint of disappointment.
"If you like snow, we could go to the ski resort this weekend, how about that?" Xiao Chong suggested.
Lin Wanwan shook her head, "Forget it, finals are coming up, I can’t afford to get distracted."
This November, Lin Wanwan ranked twenty-fourth in her exams, moving up one spot from last month, and this month she hoped to advance further, so, naturally, she didn’t want to slack off.
"Alright." Xiao Chong didn’t mind being turned down, as it was just a casual suggestion; he knew there was a high chance Lin Wanwan wouldn’t agree.
The turkey in the oven was ready, and the two sat at the dining table connected to the kitchen, eating and enjoying the snowfall outside, feeling quite at ease.
After finishing their midnight snack and chatting a bit more, Lin Wanwan bid farewell.
Xiao Chong took out a black umbrella to see her home.
Even though Lin Wanwan thought such a short walk wouldn’t require an umbrella, Xiao Chong insisted.
Carrying the gift Xiao Chong gave her, Lin Wanwan returned to her room, opened the box to see what was inside.
She guessed it might be a scarf or gloves, seeing as many of her classmates exchanged those today.
When she opened the box and took it out, it turned out to be a pure white, soft wool two-piece dress set, crafted from cashmere, exquisitely adorable, and clearly expensive.
Lin remembered her grandfather having a cashmere sweater custom-made for her this year, costing over four hundred for a fitted short one.
This loose-fitting long one in front of her, she had no idea how much it cost.
Not finding a price tag on the box or the clothes, Lin Wanwan took out her iPad to search for the brand.
When the results came, Lin Wanwan was stunned—it actually cost five figures!
She had given Xiao Chong some apples and a pair of sports wristbands, the former averaging three yuan each, and the wristbands only sixty-nine yuan, all together not even a hundred!
She opened the QQ chat with Xiao Chong and sent him a message: "The gift you gave is too expensive, I can’t accept it."
The reply came swiftly: "It’s for girls, if you don’t take it, it’ll go to waste."
Lin Wanwan: "The tags are still on, you can return it."
Xiao Chong: "Can’t return it, it’s custom-made."
Lin Wanwan: "...(・᷅ὢ・᷄)"
Lin Wanwan: "Anyway, I’ll give it back to you."
After sending this message, she closed her iPad, deciding not to think about it anymore.
