Chapter 400 Parallel World (2)
Chapter 400 Parallel World (2)
My feet were on the dry, exposed gray rocks, and above me was a gray sky. Nothing grew around me, and the wind brought a dry and desolate atmosphere.
Yan Zhen looked around, and this was the scene he saw everywhere.
Standing here gave her a disorienting feeling, making it hard to distinguish between time and direction.
"Where is this place?" Yan Zhen asked.
"Come with me." Jing Chen took her hand and led her in one of the directions with practiced ease.
The gray rocks underfoot were riddled with gullies. The small gullies were easy for two people to step over, but when they encountered a large gully, Jing Chen would stop and help Yan Zhen across. He helped her twice, and Yan Zhen really wanted to say that her physical strength was not bad and that she could cross it by herself.
But seeing that Jing Chen seemed to enjoy the brief physical contact when he helped her over, she remained silent.
After walking for more than ten minutes, a small rocky hill appeared in front of us.
Jingchen walked to the stone mountain and pressed a switch somewhere. The seemingly ordinary stone mountain split open, creating a stone gate large enough for two people to pass through.
Yan Zhen looked surprised.
"Come."
Following Jing Chen into the interior of the stone mountain, Yan Zhen discovered that there was much more to it than met the eye.
The interior of the rocky mountain was hollowed out, creating a downward-sloping passage.
The passageway was narrow, and both sides were piled with all sorts of strange and unusual things.
A mechanical clock with badly peeling paint but the hour and minute hands still stubbornly moving; a rusty excavator bucket; the skeleton of an unknown creature with three horns on its head; and a giant seashell that can fit three people embedded in the wall at the corner of the passage.
These things seem to have been casually picked up and piled up here by Jingchen from various small worlds.
At the end of the passage, there is a two-story structure that resembles an underground fortress from the apocalypse.
The first floor has three bedrooms and one living room, and the furniture inside looks like it was picked up from various small worlds and pieced together.
The living room has a set of sofas, with the long sofa and single sofas in different colors, styles and designs. The wall has recessed niches of different sizes, where various canned and dried foods are arranged in sections according to their uses, seemingly messy.
"Is this your home?" Yan Zhen asked as he wandered around.
The Supreme God has the authority to travel between stars. This place doesn't look like Earth; it's probably one of the abandoned planets that Mirror Sinks owns.
"Correct."
Yan Zhen went up to the second floor along the stone steps carved into the rock face.
Unlike the first floor, which is divided into functional areas such as kitchen, living room, study, and gym, the huge second floor only has one master bedroom.
The bed was carved out of a stone foundation; if you were to sit here with a mirror... the experience wouldn't be great.
Yan Zhen frowned, banishing the inappropriate images from her mind, and turned to look at the things hanging or placed on the wall and shelves.
Jing Chen seemed to notice something, said "Wait for me here for a moment," turned around and went downstairs, disappearing without a trace.
Yan Zhen looked through the things in the room on his own.
Unlike the messy yet orderly arrangement of items on the first floor, the items on the second floor seem to have been placed haphazardly.
Yan Zhen found a jumble of things, including but not limited to books she couldn't understand, a slingshot, a plush toy that looked like a little monster and had faded color, and a harmonica.
A sword inlaid with colored gemstones, a crown of unknown material but very ornate, and several exquisite European-style dresses embroidered with gold and silver threads and inlaid with various gemstones were found in a dusty silver box.
However, the dress was clearly meant for a teenager, not the size that Jingchen, who is 1.9 meters tall, could wear.
This supreme god must have a collecting obsession, picking up these odds and ends from various small worlds and hiding them here like treasures.
Yan Zhen put the dress back in the box and returned to the first floor listlessly.
Jing Chen was nowhere to be found, so Yan Zhen sat down on the sofa and decided to wait for him to come back.
Perhaps it was because he hadn't slept well during his transmigration, or perhaps it was because it was too quiet here, but Yan Zhen leaned against the not-so-soft sofa, his eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and he unknowingly fell asleep.
After an unknown amount of time, Yan Zhen woke up again, and the room was lit with orange lights.
She was still lying on the sofa, covered with a blanket, while Jingchen sat on a single sofa not far away, head down repairing a mechanical watch.
Perhaps worried that the bright light would disturb her sleep, Jing Chen only turned on the wall lamp at the kitchen door. The light orange glow slanted over, illuminating half of his eyebrows and eyes, while the other side of his face was hidden in the shadows, making him look clean and soft.
Jing Chen fixed his watch for a while, then habitually looked up in Yan Zhen's direction and realized that she was awake.
He immediately put down what he was holding and moved closer to her: "You're awake."
Yan Zhen sat up, stretched, and felt refreshed. The irritability and anxiety caused by lack of sleep had completely disappeared.
She asked, "How long have I slept?"
Jing Chen looked at the time on the wall: "According to Earth time, it's nine and a half hours."
"Huh?" Yan Zhen was taken aback.
Having been in the Quick Transmigration Division for so long, she couldn't remember the last time she had slept for so long outside of missions.
No wonder she felt completely refreshed after waking up, and her mood improved as well.
"Are you hungry?" Jing Chen asked.
"Hungry."
"what do you want to eat?"
Yan Zhen looked around at the things on the alcove. She couldn't understand the writing on them, so she randomly pointed to a can: "That one."
Jing Chen saw through her thoughts, smiled, and got up to go to the kitchen.
Yan Zhen went to the restroom to wash up.
Before long, Jingchen brought out two plates of spaghetti with tomato meat sauce, garnished with two fresh mint leaves.
Yan Zhen raised an eyebrow—she had thought Jing Chen would give her some canned meat from outer space with a strange taste.
It seems that the contents of this secret base are much richer than she imagined.
The pasta was decent, nothing special, but enough to fill my stomach.
After finishing her noodles, Jingchen went to wash the dishes.
Yan Zhen sat barefoot on the living room sofa, fiddling with a mechanical game console, occasionally glancing up at Jing Chen in the kitchen.
He stood in front of the sink, his back to me, wearing a thin gray sweater. The soft texture of the sweater accentuated his broad shoulders and narrow waist, creating an inverted triangle silhouette.
It is said that when people are well-fed and warm, they think of other things. With a handsome man in front of him, Yan Zhen's mind started to wander.
When Jingchen returned after cleaning up the kitchen, she patted the spot next to her, gesturing for him to sit down.
Jing Chen dried his hands and sat down next to her. Yan Zhen then straddled his lap and reached out to take off his sweater.
Jing Chen was startled by her direct and abrupt action, and instinctively grabbed the hem of her clothes: "What are you doing..."
"Do."
Jing Chen: "..."
While he hesitated about whether to compromise, Yan Zhen decisively took off his sweater, cupped his face, and kissed him.
The two rolled around on the sofa, and Jingchen's breathing became heavy: "Go...go to the bed?"
Yan Zhen remembered the hard stone bed and refused, saying, "No need, this is fine."
