Chapter 381 The Bride of the Sea God (40)
Chapter 381 The Bride of the Sea God (40)
Whenever he encounters a whale-watching boat at sea, Rasin enthusiastically approaches the tourists to interact with them, rubbing his hand against theirs to beg for fish to eat. If he's having fun, he'll even give the tourists gifts like sea cucumbers and manta rays.
The louder the screams from the tourists during the interaction, the happier Racine becomes—a typical attention-seeker.
The interactive videos were uploaded to the internet, which made Racin very popular. Many tourists traveled long distances to the waters where it was known to appear, just to catch a glimpse of it.
Yan Zhen had only seen this orca before when she accompanied Nolan to watch a documentary, and she never expected to encounter it in this sea area.
It seemed quite curious about her, and followed her all night.
Upon learning that the creature following him was neither a mermaid nor any dangerous marine animal, Yan Zhen breathed a sigh of relief.
Having worked all night and exhausted from paddling, she simply sat down on the raft.
Seeing this, Rasin immediately and cautiously approached, poking his large head out of the water and staring at her with his dark eyes.
"I don't have any food here." Yan Zhen wasn't sure if this big thing had come to beg for food, so she spread her hands to show it, "I don't have any fish for you to eat."
Rasin slowly dived into the sea and swam away.
A few minutes later, it surfaced again and nudged a plump sea cucumber onto the raft.
Yan Zhen: "..."
Is it feeding itself?
Can it understand what she's saying?
A thought popped into Yan Zhen's mind, and she beckoned Rasin over.
Rasin swam slowly to the raft, moving very gently, as if worried that a large movement would capsize it.
"I don't like sea cucumbers, could you get me some seaweed instead?"
Fifteen minutes later, Yan Zhen looked at the seaweed that had been pushed back onto the raft and his expression became excited.
This orca really can understand human speech.
"Racine, can you do me a favor?" Yan Zhen pleaded with it, "Help me pull the boat and take me to a place where humans live, okay? I have something urgent to do and need to go home immediately."
Unable to speak, Rasin expressed his will through actions—swam to the front of the raft, leaving only his head above water.
Yan Zhen felt a surge of excitement.
She quickly made a simple tether with vines, tied one end to the raft, and gave the other end to Rasin to bite. She left a distance of nearly 30 meters between the orca and the raft, and didn't forget to use vines to secure herself to the raft to prevent being thrown off if the speed was too fast.
With everything prepared, Rasin set off.
Yan Zhen was mentally prepared for the boat to capsize and she to fall into the water, but Rasin, who was swimming in front, was clearly very measured, moving slowly and steadily.
Yan Zhen sat on the raft, watching Laxin swim forward with slight movements of her tail fin beneath the surface of the sea. He then imagined a two-meter-tall human taking small, quick steps, escorting a two-month-old kitten home...
The raft can travel on the sea in this way for half a day.
As the sun rose higher, Yan Zhen's mouth became parched, but there was still no sign of islands or shore on the sea.
Where exactly has Nolan led himself?
Just as Yan Zhen was wondering if he would have to sail for several days and nights before he could reach the shore, the raft suddenly sped up.
The sudden "push" made Yan Zhen lean back involuntarily. She quickly grabbed the vines tied to the raft to avoid being thrown off.
Once she regained her balance and looked closely, she saw that for some reason, Rasin's tail fin was wagging more vigorously.
Even though he couldn't see its expression, Yan Zhen could sense that it was somewhat anxious—it looked as if it was being chased by something.
The thought had barely crossed his mind when, in the next instant, Rasin was propelled out of the water by a tremendous force. His massive body soared twenty or thirty meters into the air, letting out a high-pitched scream before crashing back into the sea.
A giant whale, estimated to weigh 20,000 kilograms, crashed into the water from a great height, creating a wave that resembled a small tsunami. A wall of water surged menacingly toward Yan Zhen's small raft.
Yan Zhen was dumbfounded.
Just as the small raft was about to capsize, Yan Zhen was about to jump into the sea to avoid the waves when a hand grabbed her collar from behind and pulled her back, even though half of her body was already in the water.
Yan Zhen quickly turned her head. Nolan had caught up with her at some point, holding her with one hand and pressing down on one side of the raft with the other, forcefully pushing the raft, which was about to capsize, back down and keeping it balanced on the sea.
Yan Zhen: "..."
Once the waves subsided and the sea returned to calm, the man and the fish stared at each other on the raft.
"You actually ran away!" Nolan gritted his teeth, feeling extremely aggrieved. "You promised to wait for me to come back, how could you lie to me!"
Yan Zhen was initially a little guilty, but after Nolan's accusation, she immediately became more righteous and spoke even louder than him: "So what if I lied to you? Your mermaid clan is plotting to create a great disaster in the human world, to kill my family and exterminate my people. Do you expect me to hide on an island and pretend that I know nothing?"
Nolan: "..."
"And look at the conditions you provided for me... tsk tsk!" Yan Zhen said disdainfully, "The food and drink were so bad, no air conditioning, no TV, no internet, and I had to sleep on a bird's nest. I had to risk falling to my death just to go to the toilet at night. Is this a place for a human to live? I never treated you this badly when I was raising you!"
Nolan: "..."
His imposing manner instantly weakened: "These are only temporary. I will slowly bring what you want to the island..."
"I can't wait," Yan Zhen said. "I want to go home."
"not now."
"When can I go back? When a major catastrophe has occurred in the human world and almost everyone is dead?"
Nolan was speechless: "Don't worry about these things."
"Do you think that's possible?" Yan Zhen said. "Knowing that you're going to deal with the Si family, and knowing that I'm a member of the Si family and have benefited from the Si family's hunting of killer mermaids, do you think I could stay here with a clear conscience, pretend that I know nothing, and live happily with you?"
Nolan snapped, "Then what do you want? Our plan has failed."
Yan Zhen immediately asked, "What did Si Lan do?"
"She knew you were taken away by me. She put all the mermaids in the research institute on a deep-sea fishing boat with the most advanced ultrasonic equipment, preparing to go to the waters where the mermaids live and force them to hand you over."
“Then you should send me back!” Yan Zhen said. “Si Lan did this not to exchange those mermaids for my safe return, but to threaten you with their lives to release me. If I don’t show up, those mermaids are doomed.”
Nolan: "..."
It's not that he doesn't know this truth.
But he didn't want to let her go back.
Apart from Asaya and a small group of mermaids he trusted, most of the mermaids, including the chieftain, were unaware that he had hidden her on the island.
