Chapter 59 Backyard Package
Chapter 59 Backyard Package
Qiao Qingshu was just worried about not finding a way to deal with his father!
This is like a pillow being handed to someone who's about to fall asleep; could there be any more timely news?
Her father is carrying such a huge case on his shoulders. If he were to expose it, it would be quite a spectacle!
Qiao Qingshu immediately dispatched Gui Mama's son, Li Yan, to Ganzhou to investigate the case from that year and collect evidence.
Li Yan has now returned to the Bai family and is considered a servant of the Bai family. When Qiao Qingshu's third uncle, Bai Zhining, learned of this, he wrote a personal letter to Li Yan to take with him so that he could investigate the case in Ganzhou.
When Bai learned that Xu Biyun had lost her child, she couldn't bear it.
"Shu'er, the child is innocent... and shouldn't be implicated..."
Qiao Qingshu raised her face excitedly and said,
"Mother, you still feel sorry for other people's children, but do you know that my brother, the abduction of your own son was orchestrated by Xu Biyun!"
Bai's expression froze; this matter hadn't been mentioned for many years.
She never expected her own daughter to bring it up again, especially in this way.
She stood there, stunned, staring at Qiao Qingshu in disbelief, her lips trembling as she spoke.
"Shu'er, what...did you say?"
Qiao Qingshu's eyes were already brimming with tears. She excitedly held her mother's shoulders and said...
"Mother, Xu Biyun and Aunt Chen are both implicated in my brother's abduction. I will investigate this matter thoroughly. Give me some time, and I will give you an explanation! I will find my brother's whereabouts, dead or alive!"
Bai frowned, looking somewhat bewildered, her eyes filled with confusion.
"How could this be? I have no grudge against them, and I've even treated them somewhat unfairly. Why...why would they treat me like this..."
Qiao Qingshu shook her mother's shoulders excitedly,
“Mother! Do you know how treacherous this world is? Not everyone here is kind and benevolent. They are jealous of you, hate you, and plot against you. They would love for us to die so they can take our place! Don’t be so naive. Open your eyes and take a good look at this world. If you continue to be so kind and loving, even if my brother is found, you won’t be able to protect him!”
When Qiao Qingshu left the bamboo hut, Bai Shi was still in a daze.
For the first time, she felt her thoughts were in disarray, and her head was throbbing as if it were about to explode.
Is it really as Shu'er said?
Are not all people in this world simply kind and benevolent?
Was it because Bai Shi lived too simply?
For the first time, she didn't drift off to sleep in a daze, but instead sat quietly at the table, pondering everything that had happened in the Qiao family over the past decades.
The more she thought about it, the more her brows furrowed and her face became serious.
After returning to her residence, Qiao Qingshu went to Lanxiang Pavilion.
The physician examined Xu Biyun and said that she was weak and bloody after the miscarriage, and that she had also been frightened and needed to rest and recuperate for more than half a month.
Liu Wan'er was just bringing the medicine bowl over to feed her mother when she saw Qiao Qingshu standing under the corridor talking to the doctor. Her face immediately turned cold.
Liu Wan'er had just delivered a hundred taels of gold to Mr. Ouyang; that was the last bit of money she and her daughter had to live on.
Now the child is gone, and the money is gone too.
Liu Wan'er was extremely heartbroken and depressed.
If she hadn't actively sought out Mr. Ouyang, she would have suspected that Qiao Qingshu had set a trap to frame her and her daughter.
She no longer had the mood to pretend to be subservient as usual, and Liu Wan'er, unusually cold-faced, ignored Qiao Qingshu.
Qiao Qingshu followed Liu Wan'er into the house.
The windows inside were tightly closed, and only a few oil lamps were lit, making the room dimly lit even though it was daytime.
Xu Biyun had just woken up and was unaware of the earth-shattering explosion that had just occurred.
She struggled to sit up, looking at Liu Wan'er with hopeful eyes.
"Wan'er, has Mr. Ouyang left? Where is my child? Is he alright?"
As she spoke, she reached out and touched her stomach, feeling something was wrong.
Aunt Chen, who had been watching the commotion from the doorway, swayed into the room and said sarcastically,
"Hasn't the young lady told Aunt Xu the truth yet? How long are you planning to keep it from her? She's her own flesh and blood, after all."
Liu Wan'er was sitting by Xu Biyun's bedside, seemingly unaware of what she was saying, blowing on the medicine to feed her mother.
The medicine was at her lips, but Xu Biyun refused to drink it. She frowned, held Liu Wan'er's hand earnestly, and asked...
"Wan'er, what is she saying? What truth? Where is my child? Where did my child go?!"
Liu Wan'er frowned, lowered her head, held the bowl, and remained silent.
Seeing this, Xu Biyun became angry and shoved him, shouting...
"I'm asking you a question, Wan'er! Tell me! Where is my child?!"
Standing in the shadows, Qiao Qingshu smiled and slowly began to speak.
"Auntie, your child is gone."
His tone was relaxed and casual, seemingly both playful and serious.
Xu Biyun trembled in fright, but deep down she didn't want to believe Qiao Qingshu's words.
She shook Liu Wan'er and cried out urgently.
"Wan'er, she's talking nonsense, isn't she? What she's saying isn't true, is it?"
Liu Wan'er sighed deeply, her voice barely audible.
"Mother, it's true."
Suddenly, her body went limp, and Xu Biyun seemed to have all her strength drained away as she fell back onto the couch, staring blankly at the beams on the ceiling.
After a moment of silence, soft sobs came from the bed. Xu Biyun murmured another question.
Is it a boy or a girl?
Aunt Chen couldn't help but let out a sneer.
"Oh my, that's pretty scary. Nobody really looks closely."
Aunt Chen then waved her handkerchief and turned to leave.
Xu Biyun frowned and looked at Liu Wan'er with a puzzled expression.
"What does Aunt Chen mean by that?"
Liu Wan'er remained silent with her head down, as if she had something she couldn't say.
Xu Biyun roared,
"Liu Wan'er, are you mute? I'm asking you a question!"
Qiao Qingshu walked forward and stood at the head of the bed, blocking the only ray of light in front of Xu Biyun.
The light disappeared, leaving only a dark shadow on Xu Biyun.
Xu Biyun inexplicably felt a powerful pressure and fear.
A barely perceptible smile curved the corners of Qiao Qingshu's lips.
“Aunt, your child is currently lying in the pile of junk behind your yard, wrapped in a tattered cloth. We’re about to have the servants throw him into the mass grave outside the city when it gets dark. Go and see for yourself and you’ll know whether it’s a boy or a girl.”
These words struck Xu Biyun like an axe, shattering her brain and nearly causing it to explode.
She sat bolt upright, her eyes bloodshot, and roared uncontrollably.
"You! How could you treat my child like this! How dare you treat my child like this!"
Liu Wan'er rushed forward to help, but Xu Biyun slapped her across the face.
"Liu Wan'er, are you dead?! They bullied your mother like this and you just stood by and watched them throw your brother into the rubble! You're such a useless piece of trash!"
Xu Biyun was blinded by rage and, disregarding the bleeding from her lower body, tried to get out of bed while holding onto the edge of the bed.
Seeing her mother stagger, Liu Wan'er rushed forward to help her, but was slapped in the face by Xu Biyun.
"Get out of my way! I'm going to find my son!"
It started to drizzle in the evening, and it was cold and damp outside.
Although Xu Biyun was wearing a coat, she couldn't withstand the cold and shivered as soon as she stepped outside.
But Xu Biyun ignored all of that and rushed to the backyard.
Two maids were loading kitchen waste and other garbage onto a cart to be sent out of the mansion.
