Chapter 174 Encounters During the Trip
Chapter 174 Encounters During the Trip
"Aze, Shushu, you two must take good care of yourselves. Come back as soon as you're done, and don't forget, you still have family here."
When saying goodbye, Jin Siyue repeated the words she had said several times before, expressing all her reluctance to part.
The two listened attentively and did not show any impatience despite having heard it many times before.
"Mom, don't worry, Shushu and I will come back safely." Mo Ze hugged his mother and assured her.
"Where are you going, sister-in-law? I want to go too!" Little Mo Lin hugged Lin Shu Shu's leg and said sweetly.
She didn't know the two were going on a long journey; she just assumed they were casually visiting some nearby planets. Since arriving here, Lin Shushu had taken her sightseeing a few times.
"Linlin, be good. Your brother and I have to go take care of something very important. Wait for us at home. We'll bring you a gift when we arrive."
"Okay then, but you have to come back quickly, or I'll cry." Little Molin took the opportunity to make a request.
After comforting the old and the young, Lin Shushu gently hugged An Xiaojie and wiped away the tears that she hadn't had time to wipe from her face.
"Why are you crying? It's not like I'm not coming back," Lin Shushu said reproachfully.
"I'm sorry, Sister Shushu, I didn't mean to cry. I just can't bear to see you leave." An Xiaojie's voice still had a slight nasal tone.
After saying goodbye to each other, amidst the reluctant gazes of the others, the two boarded a small starship and quickly disappeared into the horizon.
Aside from a few close friends, no one else knew about their departure. And as they left, their popularity on the StarNet gradually declined.
On the starship, Lin Shushu looked at the star map she had obtained from Jin Hongyu, which they would mainly rely on to guide their journey.
Unfortunately, this star map is incomplete and contains some inaccuracies. These inaccuracies could cause starships to deviate from their intended course and fail to reach their destination accurately. As a result, the starships might become lost in the vast universe.
Entering dangerous areas, such as the asteroid belt, areas of high radiation, or gravitational anomalies, would increase the risk of asteroid collisions. Alternatively, it could expose personnel and equipment on the starship to strong radiation, leading to serious consequences such as instrument malfunctions and casualties.
Those who travel from the Jin Yuan Empire to the Aolai Empire can only rely on this star map.
Therefore, anyone who successfully reached the Olay Empire must have either faced near-death experiences or possessed incredible luck, perfectly avoiding all dangers. This made Lin Shushu look at Lin Song and those who traveled between the two empires with higher regard.
Of course, these dangers are not so frightening for Lin Shushu and Mo Ze. Even if they were to get lost in the vast universe, they would have a greater chance of escaping danger than others.
Because the two countries were too far apart, the two spent most of their time cultivating, except for occasionally looking at the star map to estimate their journey.
After all, everything in the Olay Empire was relatively unfamiliar to them, and they had no idea about the strength of the people there. Only by constantly strengthening themselves could they ensure their safety in this unfamiliar environment.
As it turns out, one's luck cannot last forever.
When they were halfway through their journey, they encountered an interstellar storm.
A powerful energy fluctuation arose in the distance, which Lin Shushu keenly detected. She manually controlled the starship to hover, her gaze fixed on the distance.
Mo Ze didn't have her insight, but based on his understanding of her, he knew something must have happened.
"Shushu, should we change our route?" Moze asked worriedly.
"It's too late." After Lin Shushu finished speaking, the Yuan Pearl around her neck, which had not materialized for a long time, suddenly solidified, shimmering with a ghostly light. The next second, the two of them, along with their starship, instantly entered the space.
The moment they vanished, a powerful energy surged from the spot where they had just stood, mixed with countless fragments of asteroids. The entire area was in chaos, like a disaster zone, accompanied by the desolation of annihilation.
It's hard to imagine that if they were still there, the starship would probably have disintegrated by now, and they wouldn't have escaped unscathed.
On the bright side, even if Lin Shushu manages to protect the starship, they will be caught in the interstellar storm, or even fall into a celestial body or get trapped in a gravitational vortex, unable to escape, just like a small boat constantly rocking in an ocean storm, losing control and drifting with the waves, or even sinking.
And their current predicament is actually not much different.
The Yuanzhu appeared in physical form and protected them before the calamity struck, but without a host, it was like a piece among billions of planetary fragments, swept away by abnormal energy, its destination unknown.
Inside the space, Lin Shushu and Mo Ze had already exited the starship, but the violent shaking made it impossible for them to stand. The two leaned against the ground and sat down, waiting for the upheaval to pass.
After a long while, the turmoil within the space finally subsided. Lin Shushu knew that the Yuan Pearl must have landed in a temporarily safe place.
Lin Shushu was initially puzzled by Yuanzhu's appearance, but after careful consideration, she guessed that Yuanzhu must have sensed danger and activated its protective mode.
In other words, if she were to enter space directly when the unexpected event occurs, she might not be as safe as before. The dangers of interstellar storms are unpredictable; who knows if they might directly harm the interior of space?
With the Yuan Pearl outside, it's as if it's shielding the danger, which is why the space only experiences violent fluctuations instead of collapsing or being destroyed.
The two stood up, disregarding the damage to the space, and instantly left. They appeared where the Yuan Pearl had ultimately remained.
Using her connection with the Yuan Pearl, Lin Shushu quickly located it. The once perfectly smooth Yuan Pearl now had a few scratches. Lin Shushu breathed a sigh of relief; these damages could be repaired slowly.
Lin Shushu carefully removed the dirt from the surface of the Yuanzhu, rubbed it a few times, and then put it back on her neck. The next second, it immediately and automatically disappeared, just like before.
After doing all that, Lin Shushu and Mo Ze finally had time to look around where they were.
This was a desolate wasteland, extremely dark, whether because night was approaching or because the place was inherently gloomy, it was hard to tell. Strange rocks surrounded the area, emitting a cold, eerie glow, and unusual vegetation rustled in the wind, as if whispering the secrets of this unknown land.
A hint of wariness shone in their eyes, while at the same time, curiosity and a sense of exploration flickered within them.
"This place is so mysterious, could it be an ancient ruin, once home to a glorious civilization, now only these strange rocks and unusual plants guarding the secrets of the past?"
Lin Shushu asked Mo Ze softly, already imagining what this place used to be like.
“It’s not impossible. The universe is vast, and there are many such places. In any case, there may be unknown dangers here, so we should be careful,” Mo Ze warned.
Lin Shushu nodded. She was not someone who didn't know her place, and she would never rely on her strength to look down on the unknown, otherwise she wouldn't even know how she died.
After searching the surroundings without finding any useful clues, the two decided to return to their space to rest. The space was still a mess, after all, and needed to be tidied up first.
