Chapter 21 Breakup
Chapter 21 Breakup
Lunch naturally ended unhappily.
Wen Yiming called Lu He to the back garden of the villa. Lu He originally didn't want to leave him, but she also wanted to see what kind of trouble he was up to.
"You'd better call me if you need anything, I'm very busy." Lu He still had that condescending attitude, which made Wen Yiming very unhappy.
"How did you know I was scammed out of money, had a fraudulent order, and that there was an accident at the factory? Did you do it?"
Wen Yiming had just sensed something was wrong. Not only did Wen Shiyu return at the perfect time, but he also knew everything about his deal with Erikson, and even knew that he had orchestrated this to help Duanmu Cong.
"Don't accuse me of something wrong, it's broad daylight," Lu He quickly clarified, explaining that he wasn't one of those comic book villains who could proudly reveal their plans in a few words and then have them recorded and used against him.
She refused to admit it, saying, "You're incompetent, so you try to smear your own sister. What a good brother you are!" She deliberately shouted loudly.
Wen Yiming immediately looked around in fright, afraid that she would attract her father's attention: "Keep your voice down! Stop pretending to be innocent! I know you're involved in this!"
He lowered his voice and threatened, "I'll expose your true colors sooner or later!"
Lu He almost died laughing at him. She really didn't know where this useless second male lead got his confidence from.
I had seen his character setting in the system before; he would always be subordinate to the male lead, and his career would never be successful.
He's always a step behind the male lead when it comes to winning the female lead's heart; he can only ever be a wingman.
Such a character, who serves as a foil to the male lead in every way, is incredibly easy to deal with.
Erikson is a profit-driven person, and Wen Shiyu had met Erikson several times when he went abroad to visit Wen Yiming.
Lu He learned through the system that Erikson had long harbored feelings for Wen Shiyu. Originally, if she hadn't transmigrated into Wen Shiyu's body, Erikson would still have swindled Wen Yiming out of 100,000 yuan during his trip to China. The only difference would have been that he would have pursued Wen Shiyu, quickly slept with her, dumped her, and run away with the money.
Erickson is, after all, a shrewd old fox in the business world. Although he is the same age as Wen Yiming, his methods and intellect are far beyond what an idealist like Wen Yiming can outmaneuver.
As for the original second female lead, Wen Shiyu, although she is quite successful in business, her character is designed to be love-obsessed, which is quite a challenge. The brother and sister can't outmaneuver her.
Fortunately, the current Wen Shiyu is Lu He, so she took full advantage of Erikson's greed and came up with a plan to swindle more money from him.
In other words, Raven fell into the trap and also swindled the Duanmu Group out of a four million yuan deposit, with Lu He promising him that he could take it all and that he wouldn't take a penny.
All Erickson needed to do was invest 500,000 to acquire the bankrupt factory that Lu He had given him, and then refurbish a few old machines so that there would be no visible problems.
Erickson was naturally tempted by this sure-fire deal, but he was also very cautious. He waited until something really happened at Duanmu Group's warehouse before making his move, not wanting to see any immediate results.
Later, he maintained contact with Lu He, and the bar party where he signed the contract with Duanmu was arranged. Wen Shiyu provoked Wen Yiming, causing him to impulsively agree to Erickson's proposal. All of these were part of the trap for their collaboration.
However, Lu He would never say these things even if they were kept to herself. With Wen Yiming's limited intelligence, he would never be able to figure out which step of the scheme was being plotted against.
Seeing that Lu He was staring at him like he was an idiot without saying a word, Wen Yiming got even angrier: "I don't care what you did, you better watch out in the future!" With that, he stormed off.
"Hmph," Lu He snorted coldly as she watched his departing figure, muttering to herself, "You'd better worry about me exposing you soon..."
At this moment, Duanmu Cong ran to the entrance of Wen Shiyu's villa and frantically called Xia Lan.
Xia Lan, thoroughly annoyed, finally answered: "Acong, what are you trying to do!"
"Why haven't you come to work?" Duanmu Cong asked in a reproachful tone.
"I quit. I told you I want to work on projects, I don't want to just be a coffee-making assistant..." Xia Lan said to him gently.
"Do you think your salary is too low? I can give you a raise..." Duanmu Cong was still as arrogant as ever.
"Is that the kind of person you see me as?" Xia Lan sighed, finding it increasingly difficult to communicate with Duanmu Cong.
"If it's not about salary, then why?" he persisted.
“Because I want to have value, do you understand?” Xia Lan said earnestly, “Acong, do you really think I’m only fit to make coffee?”
"Why do you have to do all that thankless, exhausting work? You can be my personal assistant, and all you have to do is take care of me, isn't that better?"
Duanmu Cong lowered his head again in a wronged tone and admitted his mistake: "Let's not be angry anymore. Please forgive me, okay? I know it's because of what happened at the bar that day. I can explain. Please give me a chance to explain!"
“These are two different things, Ah Cong, I can’t explain it to you.”
Xia Lan was a little tired and didn't want to waste any more words, so she said, "I've decided to resign. I've already submitted my resignation letter, and I'll go to the company to complete the formalities in a couple of days..."
"Can you stop being so childish, Lanlan? Does this have to be this bad? Why can't you give me a chance to explain? That night at the bar was really a misunderstanding!" Duanmu Cong panicked when he saw that she was determined.
"I'm not throwing a tantrum, please respect my wishes."
Xia Lan no longer cared whether Duanmu Cong explained what happened at the bar. She knew in her heart that it wasn't cheating, just that his behavior was a little out of line.
She had stopped caring about that matter a long time ago; what concerned her more now was the issue at work and the disagreement between the two of them.
"Then you'll see who dares to approve your resignation!" Duanmu Cong finally got angry. After saying this, he slammed down the phone and left.
