Chapter 10 Alien Invasion
Chapter 10 Alien Invasion
They set off under the cover of night. The fog was so thick that it was almost impossible to open one's eyes, but Saenster was like a nimble leopard, moving with incredible speed and agility through the dense forest.
Occasionally, a couple of dewdrops would fall on his face, but Saenster would simply wipe them away and tuck his hair, which was damp with mist, back.
Holding her in someone's arms like an infant in swaddling clothes, Shen Qingqing tried her best to see her surroundings clearly, but could only make out faint or heavy blackness in the howling wind.
My clothes were soaked with sweat, and my hair was sticky and clinging to my neck. I felt extremely uncomfortable.
It took a lot of effort for her to finally peek out from under the swaddling clothes. She used her hands to separate her matted hair, which was intertwined in the darkness and then blown into disarray by the wind.
"How far are we from the signal tower?" Shen Qingqing's voice had recovered a lot, but it was still a little hoarse.
"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it should take at most another half hour to get there." Saenster nimbly dodged the swarming locusts in the darkness and continued on his way.
All that could be heard was a buzzing sound, and when I turned around, I found that the sound had long since been left far behind.
"What was that just now?"
“It’s locusts,” he paused and added, “The Fourth Star System has been plagued by locust plagues in recent years. It should be due to the chaos caused by the succession of the insect tribe. As for the reason, it is currently unknown.”
Shen Qingqing was a little confused after hearing this. Aren't they just the Zerg? How could they have spawned other Zerg?
As if sensing her confusion, Sanster continued, "Zerg is just a general term. We belong to the post-Zerg race, a group that evolved from insects. Those born Zerg do not strictly belong to the category of 'Zerg'."
“From the moment the first Zerg evolved a retractable exoskeleton, we drew a line between ourselves and them.”
“They have specific group names, like bee swarms, locusts, or butterflies, but we don’t. We only have a unified name—the Zerg.”
Shen Qingqing thought for a moment, recalling the eggshell she had when she first arrived here, and suddenly understood his words. She never imagined that the Zerg had developed in this way.
"So that means you are superior products selected through genetic screening, right?"
"You can think so."
I sorted through the knowledge I had just acquired, and also digested the voices that had appeared in my mind before I set off, and the fact that I could actually understand the Zerg script.
Could it be related to the ability to pass on knowledge?
Thinking about it this way seems more reasonable. She is the queen of insects, so it is not surprising that she has abilities that other insect races cannot match.
She opened her palm and looked at it; the black line didn't seem to be spreading anymore, and it remained at her knee. If it continued to spread at the same rate as in the past few days, she would probably be completely corroded within seven days.
The fog was thick at night, with white, misty vapor drifting in the air, so dense it was almost dripping with water.
Shen Qingqing held a circular device tightly in her hand. Saenster said it was the core driving device for signal transmission, capable of sending a signal across galaxies to the commander-in-chief and his team far away in space.
Although it can only be sent once, it can greatly boost the Zerg's morale in a short period of time.
The insect queen they were chasing is still alive!
What exciting news that would be!
Her small, palm-sized face pressed against his broad, firm back. Saenster stiffened for a moment, then quickly relaxed, trying to find a comfortable position for her.
"Mother Insect, please use it first."
Suddenly, Saenster stopped and pulled a strip of cloth from his pocket.
Shen Qingqing took it, not understanding what it was for, and asked, "What's this for?"
Saenster smoothed her hair: "The humidity here is too high. The delicate respiratory system of the insect queen is not enough to support you to reach your destination, so use this for protection."
After hearing the explanation, I immediately understood that this is just like the function of a mask, which is to protect against excessive fog.
"Okay." Shen Qingqing stood obediently in place, letting the man squat down to adjust her mask.
It was at this moment that a strange phenomenon occurred.
A light drizzle fell, masking the scent of the foreign tribe.
Water droplets fell from the branches and leaves, bringing bad news with them as the tremors subsided.
"Someone's coming," Tharnst said to her via their mental link.
Be quiet.
"Is it an enemy?" Shen Qingqing looked around nervously, but found nothing.
The Zerg have more acute senses than other races, especially the Thanes.
A grid-like pattern faintly appeared in his eyes, and a figure hidden behind the trees came into view.
"No," Tharnst began, "it's not the Zerg."
He then added, "The visitor is not friendly."
Because he clearly saw that the group of people were holding laser guns.
Upon meeting those eerie green eyes, it became immediately clear that they were from the wolf clan.
They looked away in an instant; how did they end up here?
He watched the wolf clan commander searching nearby with vigilance, alarm bells ringing in his mind.
It seemed that the location of the queen insect had been exposed. Recalling Michel's meaningful smile before he left, he seemed to know why he had done that.
Is it because they don't want to offend the new faction, nor do they want to abandon their neutrality, that they collude with foreign tribes to achieve their goals?
Selling information is a good option.
He gently restrained the insect queen in his arms and comforted her, saying, "They're just some ignorant scum. Please close your eyes, Queen. Saenster will handle it."
After hearing this, Shen Qingqing obediently closed her eyes. She could only hear the buzzing of the sword being drawn and the tearing sound of weapons clashing. Occasionally, she could hear muffled groans, but they were all covered by the sound of rain.
Shen Qingqing felt as if she was being held and spun around by Saenster, with occasional water droplets splashing onto her cloak.
Suddenly, a warm splash landed on my face. I reached out to touch it; it was sticky. I brought it to my nose and smelled it; it had a faint fishy odor.
Opening my eyes, I was suddenly met with a pair of light green eyes, but soon the owner of those eyes collapsed to the ground unconscious.
They were surrounded.
The wolf warriors overwhelmed them with sheer numbers, trapping them in an encirclement. Then, the wolf pack automatically split into two rows, and a young man stepped out from the back.
"General, your strength is as good as ever," the boy said, clapping his hands. "It's a pity you still lost to our wolf clan."
"Sarnster, the Zerg have fallen. Instead of stubbornly holding on, you might as well join us."
Faced with the sudden olive branch, Saenster remained unmoved, a mocking smile playing on his lips: "Is this the sincerity of your wolf clan? How rare indeed."
"Who doesn't know that your wolf clan rules over the sea people and is now at the height of its power? Don't you find it ridiculous to extend an olive branch at this time, Colette?"
Colette smiled, her deep green eyes full of calculation: "It is an honor for you to be invited by the Wolf Clan."
“Capture Sarnster alive, as for the female…”
Colette paused for a moment, then waved her hand dismissively and said, "Do whatever you want, just clean it up."
"I don't really like the smell of blood."
