Chapter Fourteen: Overly Emotional

"With gentleness..."

Yan Ye's voice called from behind, but Yue Yirou ignored him and quickened her pace, as if a wolf was chasing her.

Yan Ye instantly understood Yue Yirou's actions. His face immediately darkened, his hands clenched into fists again, veins bulging on the back of his hands, and his eyes bloodshot.

After rushing out of the room, Yue Yirou took the elevator downstairs.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, she rushed out, as if if she were a second later, the white jade pendant in the fountain would be snatched away.

This time, she was determined to get the jade pendant; she really couldn't take any more of this.

Besides, it's almost noon now, and Tingyun will wake up soon.

She had to get the white jade pendant back before he woke up.

Running to the circular fountain, ignoring the surprised looks from the passing servants and bodyguards, Yue Yirou put her handbag aside, rolled up her trousers, and stepped inside.

It was the height of summer, and the weather was hot and humid. The water in the fountain wasn't cold. When she stepped in, the water just reached her knees, and a cool sensation spread from her feet, which felt very comfortable.

The occasional splashes of water from the fountain hitting her in the pool made her feel even cooler and more refreshed.

The circular fountain was about half the size of a basketball court. The bottom of the fountain was paved with pebbles, and even though she was wearing light sandals, her feet were still a little slippery. Despite her anxiety, she could only carefully take steps toward the spot where she remembered the white jade pendant falling from the sky.

With each step she took closer to that spot, her heart skipped a beat. When she reached the point where the white jade pendant would fall, her heart was pounding with nervous excitement.

The pool water was crystal clear, but because it was covered with pebbles, Yue Yirou didn't see the white jade pendant at first glance.

She was wearing a casual outfit with short sleeves and several straps hanging from the cuffs. She bent over and carefully examined the pebbles, occasionally rolling up her sleeves to reach down and push aside the stones. The straps on her cuffs were almost completely wet with pool water, dripping with droplets that glistened in the sunlight.

What was particularly glistening was not only the water droplets dripping from her cuffs, but also the sweat on her sun-reddened forehead.

The scorching sun beat down on her, and although the fountain was slightly cool, she quickly became drenched in sweat.

The glistening water droplets dripping from her body deeply stung the man who had been standing at the door, staring intently at her.

Does she really care that disgusting piece of broken jade pendant?

If he hadn't thrown it so accurately, wouldn't she be fighting him to the death by now?

Was Lu Tingyun really that important to her?

Yan Ye's chest heaved violently, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked, and his heart ached as if it were being cut by a knife, so much so that he wished he could rip his whole heart out.

"Young Master, you shouldn't get too emotional. Have you forgotten Dr. Zhou's instructions?" Xue Tao hurriedly came over and advised him with a worried expression when he saw Yan Ye so agitated.

Yan Ye ignored her, his bloodshot eyes fixed on the slender, frail figure with her back to him in the fountain not far away.

"Found it! I've finally found Tingyun's jade pendant! Thank goodness, the pendant is intact."

An excited and joyful voice suddenly came from the fountain. Looking at the figure in the fountain who was holding the jade pendant to his chest and cheering, a strong pain shot from his heart to his brain. Yan Ye held his head and his face began to contort, looking extremely painful.
