Chapter 7 I am an orphan
Chapter 7 I am an orphan
"You two, get out of the car right now."
The driver opened the car door and berated Chao Bufan and Tang Qianqian. In fact, ever since Tang Qianqian got into the car, the three of them hadn't given each other a pleasant look.
Left with no other choice, Chao Bufan and Tang Qianqian obediently got out of the car. After getting out, Chao Bufan shook his head and sighed, "Sigh~ What bad luck!"
The driver gave a cold laugh and said, "Kid, you're pretty calm!"
Chao Bufan said helplessly, "How can I not stay calm when things are like this?"
Tang Guorong gave Chao Bufan a push with some impatience and urged, "Stop talking nonsense, hurry up and go inside."
Although the house looks a bit dilapidated and has been around for many years, the interior is decorated quite well and has everything you need. Plus, there's a large vegetable garden in front, and it's so secluded that it has a kind of idyllic, rural feel. I guess it's a place where someone is using it for retirement!
Before they even reached the door, six men, all over forty years old, came out of the house. One of them sized up Tang Qianqian (as for Chao Bufan, let's ignore him), and then asked Tang Guorong, "Brother, is this young lady your niece?"
Upon hearing this, Tang Guorong nodded in response.
"And who is this kid?" another man asked, looking at Chao Bufan.
Tang Guorong glanced at Chao Bufan and said coldly, "A person who came from the army."
"The military?" The men frowned in unison, their faces flashing with anger. It was clear how much they disliked the word "military."
Chao Bufan's heart skipped a beat, sensing something was terribly wrong, and he quickly said, "Big brother, you've really misunderstood..."
"Enough with the nonsense," Tang Guorong snapped. "Liejiang, take them both inside. Remember, neither of you are allowed to touch my niece."
This man named Liejiang is surnamed Zhu. They were all death row inmates who had recently escaped from prison together. They were ruthless and vicious because they hated society and the police. Therefore, they were capable of anything.
"Oh."
Zhu Liejiang said "Oh," and then asked, "Brother, what about this kid?"
Tang Guorong didn't even bother to look at Chao Bufan again. He coldly said, "Call his family. Set a price of two million. Tell his family to bring two million to ransom him, or else we'll kill him."
Upon hearing this, Chao Bufan quickly said, "Brother, I've been an orphan since I was a child, and I have no relatives."
Zhu Liejiang was filled with rage and roared, "Damn it, if you utter another word, I'll kill you right now. Damn it, the people I hate most in this life are the police and the military! Get out of here!"
As he spoke, he shoved Chao Bufan, who chuckled helplessly. He was then forced into the house by Zhu Liejiang and the others, and locked in a small room on the second floor with Tang Qianqian. Before leaving, Zhu Liejiang and the others searched all of Chao Bufan and Tang Qianqian's belongings.
There was nothing in the room, but the dried bloodstains on the floor indicated that one or more poor souls had been beaten or killed there.
When Tang Qianqian saw the dried bloodstains on the ground, her eyebrows twitched, and a deep fear was clearly visible in her eyes.
"You two better behave yourselves. If either of you makes a sound, don't blame me for being ruthless."
Zhu Liejiang gave a curt reprimand, and as soon as he finished speaking, the door slammed shut with a "bang," followed by the sound of it being locked.
Chao Bufan maintained a calm expression throughout, as if all of this had nothing to do with him. However, Tang Qianqian trembled the moment she heard the door open, then squatted down, hugged her knees, and began to sob softly, because this was all she could do now.
Chao Bufan glanced at Tang Qianqian, shook his head and smiled, thinking to himself: That's how women are, they just cry and cry whenever something happens.
He then surveyed the room and noticed the window wasn't fully closed, only partially ajar. Instinctively, he walked over and gently pushed it open. Peeking out, he gasped in shock. Several people were standing behind the house, and many of them carried firearms and ammunition, including several foreigners. Chao Bufan keenly realized these were assassins, especially the foreigner Tang Guorong was speaking to in a subservient manner. Judging from the insignia on his clothes, this man was a lieutenant general—definitely a top-tier assassin.
Chao Bufan frowned slightly, thinking to himself, "It seems this gang has quite a few members! Knives, guns, grenades, foreign assassins, huh, interesting!"
He quickly turned around and glanced down at Tang Qianqian. He saw her squatting on the ground, hugging her knees and sobbing softly, looking extremely heartbroken. He couldn't help but shake his head and smile, thinking to himself, "Women are such a damn hassle, damn it!"
"call out!"
He crossed his arms and whistled softly at Tang Qianqian, but she didn't seem to hear him and continued to sob sadly. So, Chao Bufan whistled again, then closed his head slightly and whispered, "Hey, hey!"
Tang Qianqian's eyes reddened as she looked up at Chao Bufan. Chao Bufan quickly beckoned with his finger, glancing slightly out the window to signal her to come over. Seeing this, Tang Qianqian frowned, then stood up and walked suspiciously to Chao Bufan's side. She then looked out the window, and what she saw made her face turn pale.
Chao Bufan casually tapped Tang Qianqian's shoulder with a finger. The touch felt nice and the shoulder was very elastic. When Tang Qianqian turned her head and gave him an annoyed look, he had already put his hands in his pockets, shrugged, and said lazily in a low voice, "I just touched you, is it really that big of a deal? If you keep looking, be careful those people don't find out! Then even a god can't save you."
"None of your business." Tang Qianqian glared fiercely at Chao Bufan and said angrily in a low voice. It was clear that she had no good feelings towards Chao Bufan whatsoever.
Chao Bufan smiled calmly, then said indifferently, "Hey, I can't be bothered to care even if you ask me to. Don't beg me to take you with me when I leave."
Seeing how relaxed and calm the boy in front of her was, as if nothing had happened, Tang Qianqian couldn't help but recall what Tang Guorong had said earlier. She wondered if he really came from the army. She frowned and then cautiously asked in a low voice, "You...you really have a way to leave here?"
However, she found it laughable as she said those words. There were walls on all four sides, practically rats and cockroaches everywhere. How could she leave? Jump out the window? Was that even possible? Besides, they outnumbered her, carrying not only knives but also guns. Could she possibly escape? Therefore, when Tang Qianqian asked that question, she immediately realized she had wasted her breath. She bypassed Chao Bufan, walked to the middle of the house, and, displaying the vulnerable side typical of women, squatted down and began to sob softly.
