Chapter 5 There are four full moons in the sky

Linni carried her clean clothes and backpack, sitting leisurely on Baizhu's back as she walked towards their cave. She thought to herself: It's not so unacceptable that men can turn into flames and disappear, and that tigers like to take care of people, is it?

Back at the cave entrance, Linni saw a dozen or so pieces of meat roasting over the fire, all cooked. Baiji emerged from the cave, and Linni noticed a small den at the very back, lined with fresh hay and animal hides. Moved, she stepped forward and hugged the quiet, shy tiger, saying, "Baiji, thank you!"

Baiji rubbed its huge tiger head against her face, and you could feel its joy.

After playing with Baiji for a while, Linni went outside to find a suitable tree to hang her clothes to dry. Then she sat down, added some seasoning to the roasted meat, and took a small bite. She thought the bear meat was a bit tough, but very chewy, with a slightly sweet taste; overall, it tasted quite good. So, she ate a large piece of roasted meat with the cherries she had picked at noon, and felt very full; even her cheeks were tired and sore from chewing so much.

Seeing that she wasn't eating anymore, Bai Shu kept making "woof woof" sounds beside her, urging Lin Ni to eat more. Lin Ni thought that the roasted meat shouldn't go to waste, so she picked up the remaining meat and fed it to the two white tigers. At first, they refused to eat, but Lin Ni had to stuff it into their mouths several times before they finally ate. Then they started vying to be fed in front of her.

Linni was amused by them and couldn't stop laughing. These two white tigers were just too cute!

By the time we finished eating, it was already dusk. The setting sun had slanted to the horizon, its dazzling light receding, leaving only a soft, golden halo around it. The once cloudless, clear sky, a deep, clear blue, was now gradually changing color, like the sea being dyed golden layer by layer.

"So beautiful!" Lin Ni took out her phone and turned it on, seeing that it was already 10 PM. She took pictures of the sunset, and even took two group photos with Bai Zhu and Bai Ji, then sat among them watching the magnificent sunset expand, bathing the entire sky and the whole world in a golden light. The sun slowly set, its soaring red rays remaining on the distant sky and the peaks of the mountains, then leaped joyfully and disappeared into the distant horizon. Then, twilight gradually spread, blurring and disappearing the outlines of the distant mountains.

Lin Ni reluctantly withdrew her gaze, yawning. She had gotten up at two in the morning, and although she had slept for a while on Bai Ji's back in the afternoon, she was still exhausted after a long day of running around. She put all her things away at the back of the cave, touched the newly made bed, and said to Bai Ji, "This was made for me, right? Isn't it?"

Bai Ji simply came up and rubbed against her arm.

Lin Ni's two sets of sportswear were both breathable long-sleeved shirts and pants, which she specifically chose for convenience and safety while hiking. At this moment, she took off her sports jacket, folded it up and put it in the nest as a pillow, and climbed up the grass nest wearing only a sports vest. Then she saw the flame mark on her left arm. She used to be a model student and didn't have any messy tattoos on her body. When she saw it, she couldn't help but reach out and touch it. Thinking that there was a man in there, she had a very strange feeling.

When she came to her senses, she saw that the two white tigers were also staring at her—she couldn't tell if they were looking at the flame mark or at her. Lin Ni blushed and said, "What are you looking at? Go to sleep!"

Seeing the two white tigers staring at him blankly, clearly not understanding, he pointed to their large den and said, "Go to sleep!"

They understood this action, so the two white tigers jumped into their den and lay down, still staring at Lin Ni. Lin Ni lay down as well, and seeing that they were still looking at her, she shouted, "Don't look!"

Bai Shu clearly understood what he meant and immediately turned his head away. After a while, seeing that Bai Ji still wasn't moving, he slapped Bai Ji's head hard with his paw, almost causing Bai Ji to bump into his own front leg. "Awooo!"

"Ah wu——"

Then the two white tigers obediently went to sleep. Lin Ni was amused by them for a while before she finally laughed out loud. They were so cute and adorable! Girls probably all like these furry things, right? After laughing, she closed her eyes and silently said in her heart: Atractylodes macrocephala, Bletilla striata, thank you!

When Linni woke up the next day, it was still dark outside. She quietly got up, not wanting to wake the two white tigers, but to her surprise, they woke up anyway and looked up at her. Linni waved to them, "It's alright, you can go back to sleep."

She crept out in the dark, chased away the white tiger that had followed her, and finished relieving herself. Only then did she notice four full moons in the sky! These four large, round moons weren't at the top of the sky, but rather hung in the four cardinal directions. Perhaps because she was currently in the western part of this world, the western moon appeared larger, whiter, and rounder—she was certain she wasn't on Earth anymore. Realizing this, she immediately ran back into the cave, retrieved her phone, turned it on, and took a picture. Hmm, she couldn't capture all four moons, so she recorded a video instead.

Two white tigers followed her around, seemingly very interested in the phone in her hand. Lin Ni smiled at them: "I can't let you play with this, besides, you wouldn't be able to."

She checked the time again; it was seven in the morning. Yesterday it was already light at two in the morning, so why wasn't it light yet at seven?

Linni had had enough sleep, so she started a fire to boil water. While Linni and the two white tigers shared the taste of instant noodles, a rosy glow appeared in the east—the sun was rising!

Linni watched the breathtaking sunrise again and then realized it was eight o'clock. A day in this world should be thirty hours long, probably because it's summer, with long days of twenty hours and short nights of only ten hours; she guessed that in winter it would be reversed, with short days and long nights—of course, this was Linni's initial estimate.

Lin Ni went into the cave and found a smooth stone wall. She used a folding knife to carve the date August 10, 2024 on it, and then made two more marks below it. This was to record the second day after she came into this world.

After Linni finished her work, she found that only Bai Shu was left in the cave; Bai Ji was no longer there. She went to get two bags, a folding knife, and a water glass filled with water: "Bai Shu, let's go out."

Linni joined her classmates on this mountain climbing trip as a graduation adventure because she loved exploring the mysterious and unknown world of the forest. Now, with the majestic white tiger by her side, she felt even more courageous and could confidently embark on her journey. Although Baishu didn't understand her language at all, it would instinctively lower itself when Linni gently patted its back. So, Linni sat steadily on its broad back, officially beginning this adventure on a foreign continent full of unknowns and surprises.
