Chapter 186 183 Gigantomachia 2
Chapter 186 183 Gigantomachia 2
"MOVE!" Aizawa roared.
However, it was too late. The horizontal swipe of Gigantomachia's arm cleared not just the air, but erased the entire hillside in a single blow.
BOOM!!!
The ground shattered beneath them as the impact launched dirt, rock, and splintered trees through the air like artillery fire. Mandalay barely managed to throw herself backward before being swallowed by the dust cloud entirely.
Yuta's vision blurred violently as something massive crashed into him from the side.
Ancient cedar trunks were sheared cleanly at the base and launched into the atmosphere. The sheer displacement of air created a localized atmospheric shockwave that compressed the dust into a blinding, supersonic wall of dust and earth, blasting outward. The shockwave alone ripped massive trenches across the slope while dust swallowed the entire upper hillside instantly.
Todoroki turned, face changing at the massive debris storm shooting towards them.
"Incoming!!" He slammed his foot into the ground.
CRAAAAACK!!!
An enormous wall of ice erupted upward directly in front of the students and teachers retreating down the mountainside. Layer after layer of dense frozen structure burst from the earth in seconds, rapidly thickening into a towering barrier nearly twenty meters high. The debris storm hit a moment later.
BOOOOOOOOM!!!
The entire mountain shook violently as trees smashed apart against the ice wall like thrown spears. The ice wall held for three seconds. Then the pressure differential overwhelmed it and the outer layer shattered in a cascade of frozen fragments and embedded debris. Todoroki planted his foot harder, rebuilding from the base even as the top came apart, new layers thickening beneath the broken ones.
"EVERYONE GET BEHIND IT!" Vlad King bellowed, already moving. His blood quirk fired, intercepting the largest fragments before they could reach the retreating students.
The second wave of debris hit the reformed wall with less force. Then the third. Then nothing.
The mountain went quiet. Dust drifted through the shattered trees like fog.
"What ... What just happened?" Mineta asked, face ashen.
Several students who were knocked off their feet from the rumbling residual pressure wave alone hurriedly pulled themselves to their feet. Looking in horror as the upper mountainside disappeared behind the ice and a gigantic cloud of debris.
Midoriya's eyes widened. "…Sensei?"
"What the hell happened up there?!" Kaminari shouted.
"Mandalay ..." Tiger's expression changed instantly as the upper mountain disappeared behind an enormous wall of debris.
"Ragdoll… Mandalay… Pixie…" He rushed forward,
"Stop, Tiger." A hand blocked his path.
"Get out of my way Vlad." Tiger growled, applying force.
"Don't lose your reasoning, you can't head into that blindly." Vlad King uttered through gritted teeth, then turned to the students. "Everyone, get as far away from here as .. huh .." His words came to a halt, at the sight of the look on their faces.
The students of Class 1-A and 1-B froze in absolute terror while looking upward. 'Huh?'
Sekijiro turned his head, and nearly froze like the rest of them.
Through the thick canopy of the lower forest, they could see it—
Huge. Far too huge. Gigantic white eyes opened within the haze first. Then came the silhouette. Towering over the forest itself. Massive shoulders, wild hair and jagged teeth.
Gigantomachia emerged fully from the shattered mountainside as debris rolled from his body like falling rubble. His size only grew bigger the greater the agitation stirring within him.
"What is that thing? Did it just…" Kaminari's voice cracked, eyes darting for the teachers and Yuta.
"My god. It's a giant quirk user."
"Why ... How did a villain get into camp."
Bakugo's eyes narrowed sharply at the gigantic silhouette towering through the dust cloud above the forest. "Whoever he is, he just… attacked the teachers. Now we're next."
Kirishima and Tetsutetsu took a simultaneous gulp. "No way .. do we have to fight this thing?"
"Well .. it's just a big guy .. right?"
BOOM! The rumbling thud of a footstep fell into the ears as Machia emerged from the hole he had dug.
"No way .. it's in a hole?"
Todoroki crouched, ice and fir emerging on both sides.
"Does anyone see Mr. Aizawa and the others?"
"No. There's too much dust. The entire hill was destroyed."
Vlad remained silent. A sweat drop rolling down his chin.
Up on the pulverized summit, the heavy curtain of dust began to drift sideways under the mountain wind.
Gigantomachia emerged from the hole, he had bored out of, his immense chest heaving. Focusing, his cataract-white eyes scanned the pulverized bedrock with single-minded focus. To him, the pro heroes and the children were nothing more than background noise. Annoyances to be crushed if they stood between him and his directive.
His gaze locked onto a splintered ridge thirty meters away. Pinned beneath the massive, crushed trunk of an uprooted cedar lay Daichi. The convict's displacement energy was entirely spent, his body limp and broken.
And yet, he was still alive. Gigantomachia's eyes narrowed slightly.
"…Persistent insect." To Gigantomachia's primitive, loyalty-driven mind, the blasphemer who had dared insult his Master's was still drawing breath.
That was an error in the world's design. One that needed correction.
'Die.' The behemoth didn't speak the word aloud. He simply raised his massive, brown forearm, and brought it down in a vertical descent meant to flatten the entire ridge into a bloody stamp.
He never reached the ground.
BOOOOOOOOM!!!
A gigantic orb of orange energy erupted from the dust cloud like a cannon shell. It crossed the distance instantly in a blinding trajectory, slamming directly into the meat of Gigantomachia's shoulder.
The sound of tearing flesh was sickening. The colossal beast's arm was violently deflected offline, his entire multi-ton frame blasting backwards, legs leaving trenches as it was pushed back its equivalent of ten feet. Gigantomachia's claws dug into the earth to stabilise itself.
Thud!
Silence engulfed the battlefield. Everyone in the Hero course had their eyes widened. 'What just ..'
Gigantomachia slowly lowered his massive chin, staring down at the deep, gouged crater in his shoulder. A deep section of flesh near his shoulder had been blown apart completely. Blood poured steadily from the wound.
Thanks to his Quirk combinations—specifically his internal pain blockers—the catastrophic damage didn't register as agony. However, ... "…My skin…" the giant rumbled, his voice bewildered and carrying genuine confusion. He knew his own strength. Besides All For One, nothing should have possessed the piercing power to breach his hardened hide.
The dust cloud ahead of him began dispersing.
Orange light glowed through the smoke first.
Then bone.
A large skeletal construct emerged from the debris field, towering over the shattered mountainside. Massive glowing ribs curved outward protectively around several unconscious bodies held safely within its frame.
Mandalay.
Ragdoll.
Momo.
Occupying a place in one of its arms was Aizawa, blood streaming down his face.
Fragments of rock slid from the construct's shoulders as one gigantic skeletal arm remained extended forward, reshaped into a massive cannon-like weapon still glowing from the shot it had fired moments earlier. At its center stood Yuta. His UA training shirt was shredded across the shoulder, and his skin was slick with sweat. His left hand was slammed flat into the ground, keeping the massive construct anchored.
The Susanoo had taken the brunt of the giant's initial shockwave, acting as a perfect, conceptual shield before they could be turned to paste by the flying debris.
"Dammit." Yuta muttered. Within his irises, the intricate design of the Mangekyō Sharingan spun was clearly visible. "And here I thought this day couldn't get any worse."
For several seconds, the mountainside remained completely still.
Dust drifted slowly through the ruined forest while orange chakra flickered across the gigantic skeletal construct looming over the shattered terrain.
Yuta stared upward at the colossal figure opposite him.
'…Seriously?'
His head throbbed violently. First Shigaraki and the League. Then All For One. That's not even counting Overhaul and the Shie Hassaikai remnants. It hadn't even been a few months. Every couple of weeks, some new absurdity appeared out of nowhere trying to turn society upside down. And now this.
'What the hell even is that thing?' His eyes locked onto the wounded monster. The all too familiar insight was running its due course at hyper speed.
Yuta desperately racked his brain, trying to dig up any sliver of information from his memory of the original story. He had watched up to the middle of Season 4 before transmigrating. And ... With the timeline going off the rails, he had practically blown through every last bit of it.
League of villains, All For One, Nomu, Overhaul. But this thing? This walking tectonic plate with a face?
'I have absolutely zero recollection of a giant, brown-haired mutant raid boss showing up at the summer camp,' Yuta thought, a cold sweat breaking out beneath his shredded shirt. 'Did my presence butterfly-effect some hidden villain weapon into existence, or is this something that shows up eventually in later seasons? Because how was someone like this never mentioned?'
Whatever was standing across from him had not appeared in anything he'd watched. Which meant it was either something that came later in the story, something he'd missed, or something that existed in the background of the world without ever getting a proper introduction until now.
None of those options were helpful.
It was an existential joke, really. Yuta didn't know whether to curse his abysmal luck or praise whatever cosmic deity was watching over him. On one hand, the timing was a miracle. If he hadn't unlocked the Susanoo literally minutes prior, he wouldn't have had the speed or the defense required to shield Aizawa, Momo, and the Pussycats simultaneously. At his baseline speed and the giant's swing, there was a high chance at least one of them would have been turned into a red smear against the bedrock by that initial shockwave.
Even now, their conditions were currently unknown aside from knowing they were still alive.
On the other hand, his luck was completely spent. He had spent the majority of his chakra when his Susanoo first turned on without his consent. Now, keeping this Semi stage-three skeletal construct active was draining whatever was left. Worse .. he could feel a stinging sensation appearing in his eyes. That last shot took a lot of energy. 'Unless I aim to kill, I don't think I can defeat him with a few more shots.'
This was the unfortunate reality. Through the crimson tint of his vision, the Sharingan continued its automatic analysis of Gigantomachia's physiology. The resulting data made Yuta's stomach drop.
'This isn't Mt. Lady or some generic giant-mutation quirk user. The cellular density in those muscles is completely unnatural.' Giant type quirk users had strength proportionate to their size at base. Without any special traits, their durability couldn't really match that. 'So why the hell is his body durability so much stronger?'
The chakra-infused blast from the Susanoo's cannon should have carried enough piercing force to tear apart most of the area around the mountain range, and then some. Instead, it had merely gouged a deep, bloody crater into the beast's shoulder. What was truly terrifying, though, was the giant's reaction. Or rather, the total lack of one. The beast's heart rate hadn't spiked nor had his tance wavered. He wasn't even gritting his teeth.
So his quirk probably included Pain resistance or ...Nullification.
'Flying blind,' he thought. 'Against something I can't identify, and apparently can't one-shot.'
This must be how All Might felt after encountering the Nomu at USJ. Meanwhile, Gigantomachia had not moved since the cannon shot.
Feeling the injury he had sustained, numerous thoughts filled his mind. His expression was not rage. At least, from its earlier reaction, Yuta had expected rage, the specific hot mindless variety that large aggressive opponents usually produced when injured.
Just then ... "You are strong." A deep, terrifying voice emerged from its mouth. "Unfortunately, I will not allow a blasphemer of my master to live." Those were his last words before his claws grew longer. With increased emotional agitation, his body grew proportionally as well, preparing to engage in a brutal baffle.
Seeing the massive monster on the other end only continue growing larger while his own Susanoo clocked in at a humble fifteen meters, Yuta's brain blanked for a moment.
Was this really his life now?
He got transmigrated into a superhero society, acquired reality-breaking eyeballs, nearly exploded his own nervous system awakening a chakra mech, and now a mountain-sized caveman built like the final boss of a disaster movie was threatening to cave his skull in because he was a ... Blasphemer?
What next? Was a dragon going to crawl out of the ocean next week? Hold on, what did he mean by blasphemer? Was this giant religious?
The giant shifted its footing. The entire mountainside groaned. Yuta immediately poured out more chakra. Blood slid out of his eyes as his Susanoo rapidly underwent a transformation. Connective tissue and skin on the bones. Directly into stage three Armoured Susanoo. The cannon-like weapon the right arm was made of, transformed into a full on energy cannon, ready to blast out at full power.
If this monster was going to charge him, then he couldn't afford to hold back. Just in time, Gigantomachia lowered his center of gravity slightly.
His claws lengthened further. Then ..
The giant stopped.
"…Hm?" Yuta's energy cannon, faltered for a second.
Gigantomachia's gaze slowly shifted downward toward the convict pinned beneath the collapsed tree.
The man's body had stopped moving entirely.
No heartbeat or breathing. With his senses, Gigantomachia confirmed that the blasphemer was dead. For several seconds, the giant simply stared.
Then slowly, the claws from his fingers slid back into place. The heavy tension eased with his movements.
However, Yuta was even more stunned.
"…What?"
Gigantomachia straightened to his full height once more."The blasphemer is dead," he stated calmly. The giant's white eyes lifted toward Yuta again. "There is no need to engage you anymore."
"…"
