Chapter 8 Slaughter in Chaotic Times
Chapter 8 Slaughter in Chaotic Times
Ashitaka walked all night, aimlessly heading west, until dawn broke. Liu Yufei knew that nothing he said would make a difference.
"Ashitaka, let's part ways here. Whether we like it or not, the road ahead must continue. Goodbye!!"
Liu Yufei did not choose to follow Ashitaka, after all, his journey had begun. Ashitaka did not speak, and did not even ask Liu Yufei's name.
On the open field, Liu Yufei rode his deer at full speed, and his mood improved thanks to Ashitaka's influence.
"Wow... Hahaha, that feels great! This is so exhilarating! No wonder some people like racing!"
But this feeling didn't last long, because Liu Yufei's stomach started to rebel, and he ate two pancakes in just one day and one night.
"Ugh! Budget travel ruins your life!! I still have to find food!!"
Months later, Liu Yufei originally didn't want to experience any timelines, since the system had said that even if he didn't experience any timelines, he could still leave when the timelines ended.
But he had seen too much along the way, and now Liu Yufei had changed his clothes, brandishing a long sword and shouting:
"Don't run away!! Stop right there! If you're so tough, call out the order; if you're not, just leave it at that! What kind of Bushido spirit is that?!"
Seeing this, Liu Yufei once again accelerated, his long sword thrusting forward. With a single strike, he took down two disheveled warriors in front of him. Only then did Liu Yufei dismount and say:
"I told you not to run! Now you're covered in blood. Why are you running? Does your head still hurt? Do you want some painkillers?!"
The other person didn't speak, because he was no longer able to. His head had just been sliced off by Liu Yufei, and the painkillers probably weren't working.
As he spoke, Liu Yufei disregarded the bloodstains on the corpse, reached out and touched it, and only found five copper coins.
"You only have this little bit of money? How dare you go out with so little? What a disappointment!!"
Liu Yufei walked toward another corpse, cursing under his breath.
Judging from his practiced movements, this was clearly not the first time he had done this.
After all, it was a chaotic world where there was no law or morality to speak of. Liu Yufei was not used to it at first. His physical reaction was secondary; the key issue was that he couldn't accept certain things psychologically.
In the end, Liu Yufei figured it out: why not just treat this world as an illusion?
So later, Liu Yufei started to treat this world as a game world. In a game world, killing and robbing are commonplace. Once he understood this, Liu Yufei was not afraid at all; in fact, he even became somewhat excited.
After taking out a dozen or so copper coins again, Liu Yufei casually waved his hand, and the two corpses disappeared. This was something Liu Yufei had been developing these past few days.
Since the divine tree has no consciousness, Liu Yufei has been unable to figure out a way to cultivate it.
After he came out, Ye Wufeng was so bored that he found a pretext to kill the reindeer. He thought he could eat it for half a month, but as soon as he put it into his space, the corpse was absorbed by the divine tree.
After discovering the correct way to open the divine tree, Liu Yufei became unstoppable, constantly providing nutrients to the tree these days. Unfortunately, the human life force was too weak, so the divine tree's growth was not very promising.
At first, he planned to try using animals, but ordinary animals are weaker, so the divine tree did not bear fruit from other animals. Seeing this, Liu Yufei gave up.
The key point is that although Liu Yufei is not an animal rights activist, he just couldn't bring himself to harm such cute animals. In order to avoid being tormented by his conscience, Liu Yufei ultimately decided to harm humans. Amitabha, good, good!
So in the end, Liu Yufei still chose to find Ashitaka, because finding Ashitaka would allow him to find the Beast Gods, and Liu Yufei could protect them in his own way.
Meanwhile, Liu Yufei rode his horse forward and soon saw his promised land.
The sounds of battle could be faintly heard ahead. Upon seeing this, Liu Yufei kicked his horse's belly and quickened his pace. Sure enough, two waves of warriors appeared ahead.
Judging from the flags, they were two groups of people, but instead of attacking each other, they tacitly chose to slaughter civilians. Upon seeing this, Liu Yufei immediately spurred his horse forward and blocked the sword that was about to be slashed down. With a swift movement, he severed the opponent's body in two.
"Oh my god...!"
The rescued man immediately fled in a panic. Looking at his awkward figure, Liu Yufei immediately recognized him. Wearing a red headscarf and wooden clogs, and most importantly, carrying a red umbrella, who else could it be but the monk Geda?
But Liu Yufei didn't have time to pay attention to him at the moment, because he was already surrounded by four or five people. The men looked at Liu Yufei riding a tall horse and didn't dare to go forward.
Liu Yufei didn't tolerate them. He brandished his long sword and quickly took down another man. Only then did the others realize that this guy was after them. With a roar, they raised their swords and charged forward.
Even as he fled, the monk with the lumps looked back and saw that Liu Yufei was surrounded.
"That kid's finished!!"
Although he was moved, he had no intention of rescuing Liu Yufei. He ran up the hillside in a few steps and looked back again. But when he looked back, he saw a scene he would never forget.
Riding a horse had become a burden. Liu Yufei spurred his horse down, his blade aimed directly at the face of the man in front of him. With a single, powerful stroke, the man was cleaved in two by Ye Wufeng.
At that moment, a longsword from one of the men beside him pierced Liu Yufei's armor, but with Liu Yufei's current defensive capabilities, ordinary weapons could not penetrate his defenses. With another sweeping motion, his head was severed, and the others were terrified.
Unfortunately, there was no time to frighten them. Like chopping melons and vegetables, Liu Yufei took them down one by one, and soon the fields returned to calm.
"My God! Is this even human?"
The monk Geda had seen countless warriors in and out of the palace, but Liu Yufei's abilities had completely overturned his understanding. At this moment, Liu Yufei's face was covered in blood. He turned around, and when the monk Geda saw Liu Yufei looking over, he was immediately terrified and continued to flee upwards.
More and more people arrived, and Liu Yufei immediately drew his knife and charged forward, determined to have a good time this time.
Soon, only a few corpses lay scattered on the ground, and Liu Yufei's legs were covered in mud. He did not give chase because the people had scattered too much. After cleaning up his spoils, Liu Yufei mounted his horse and headed towards the market.
Ashitaka should have appeared by now, but Liu Yufei didn't see him, so he decided to wait at the market.
Don't be fooled by Liu Yufei's seemingly inhumane actions; this is how people in this era behave. In chaotic times, humanity is irrelevant; survival is paramount. This isn't the first time Liu Yufei has witnessed this situation along the way. He wasn't trying to be a savior; after all, he was just a tourist! (Damn, what kind of good person acts like this on vacation?)
