Chapter 898: Divorce
Chapter 898: Divorce
Upon hearing this, Summer Monroe finally understood what was going on.
Ronan Kingston pleaded, "Boss, only you can persuade him, please have a word with my brother."
Summer Monroe nodded and said, "I’ll try my best."
As she spoke, she lifted her feet and walked towards the ward.
Just as she walked up to the ward door, she heard Grandpa Kingston cursing, "What’s the big deal about marriage? If they got married, they can just get divorced! Nowadays, the divorce rate in Crestfall is much higher than the marriage rate! Do you think people lining up outside the civil affairs bureau are getting married? Let me tell you, they’re all damn getting divorced. It’s not a wise choice to indulge in self-destruction. If I were you, I’d focus on getting healthy again and then win Summer over!"
Summer Monroe’s mouth twitched a couple of times.
She had never encountered an elder who spoke like this before...
Ronan Kingston couldn’t stand it anymore and reminded, "Grandpa, brother, Boss... Summer is here."
The body of Julian Kingston, lying on the hospital bed, stiffened, and he closed his eyes, forcing himself not to look at Summer Monroe.
Grandpa Kingston stood up, unembarrassed by having been overheard, and greeted with a smile, "Miss Monroe is here? Come, sit down, sit down! Julian has been waiting for you for a long time!"
Summer Monroe coughed dryly and walked to the bedside of Julian Kingston, who was pretending to sleep, and succinctly said, "Get up, take your medicine."
Julian Kingston remained motionless, pretending to be in a deep sleep.
"Stop pretending." Summer Monroe directly exposed him: "I’ve been here for a while and saw you shoo the nurse away."
Julian Kingston knew he couldn’t keep pretending, so he opened his eyes and asked indifferently, "Why are you here?"
Summer Monroe shook the thermos cup in her hand and said, "To bring you medicine."
"I don’t want it." Julian Kingston closed his eyes again, coldly saying, "Leave."
Grandpa Kingston immediately got anxious.
"Hey! You brat..."
"Grandpa Kingston." Summer Monroe interrupted, "Don’t scold him; it’s normal for him not to want to see me. I’ll just leave the medicine here and take my leave."
Grandpa Kingston asked in surprise, "Are you leaving just like that?"
Summer Monroe replied with "Mm," and said, "He doesn’t want to see me, I shouldn’t appear in front of him."
On the bed, Julian Kingston’s eyelids twitched twice, then suddenly his eyes opened wide as he said, "Grandpa, Ronan, please go out; I have something to say to her."
Grandpa Kingston still wanted to say something, but Ronan Kingston directly pulled him out and considerately closed the door.
For a moment, only Summer Monroe and Julian Kingston were left in the ward.
Julian Kingston didn’t speak, and Summer Monroe wasn’t in a hurry, just waiting for him to start.
Finally, Julian Kingston spoke—
"Ronan said you got married?"
"Yes." Summer Monroe nodded.
Julian Kingston pressed his lips together, his face turned paler.
"When did it happen? Before or after I went undercover?"
"Before."
Julian Kingston’s brows furrowed instantly: "Why didn’t you tell me? Did everyone decide to treat me like a fool?"
Summer Monroe’s expression changed slightly; she understood Julian Kingston’s emotions.
If she had known Julian Kingston would risk his life going undercover for her, she would have stopped him.
But the deed was done, so Summer Monroe had to explain meekly, "Neither Damian Knight nor I intended to deceive you; we did keep our marriage a secret, but it wasn’t just from you—no one knew... Julian Kingston, I’m sorry, I should have told you earlier. But I only ever saw you as a friend. You know, feelings can’t be forced."
"Forced?" Julian Kingston laughed bitterly, "Did my affection make you feel burdened?"
